Two date nights in one month? TWO DATE NIGHTS IN ONE MONTH.
Welcome to Episodes 4 and 5 of the Date Night with Jake & Page podcast! That’s right, in May, you get a bonus show! We had planned to release our great episode with Jon and Melissa Luther this month, but we snuck in a podcast with our long-time friends Penn and Kim Holderness while they were in town too, so we figured why not?
Jonathan Luther is co-founder of the insanely popular JJ’s Red Hots chain in Charlotte, and he and his wife Melissa discuss on the podcast their ups and downs with the business over the years (she serves as the company’s CFO) and how their culinary careers ultimately helped prepare them for their recent growth and success. Jon and JJ’s were prominently featured on an episode of ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’ with Guy Fieri earlier this year, and the husband-wife team chatted about that unique experience as well.
Penn and Kim Holderness – 1/2 of the Holderness Family along with Lola and Penn Charles – have built a passionate and growing following on YouTube and Facebook through their viral videos and parodies. Former on-air journalists, they left their careers to start a video production company, only to have a video Christmas card go viral, and the rest is history. We’ve known Penn and Kim for more than a decade, so there is plenty of goofing off (and freestyle rapping!), but we pressed them on the challenges they face as parents raising children in the spotlight and dealing all of the online haters and trolls. Yes, trolls.
Once again, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on these episodes. Past shows can be found on jakeandpage.com, iTunes and wherever you get your podcasts. We live stream each episode on Facebook (Page Crawford Fox 46) and the videos are posted to youtube.com/jakefehling.
Please keep the conversation going on social media using the hashtag #datenightclt. Thanks for listening!
